Recyclability: A deepish dive.

Easy to Collect and Sort

ClimaCell panels are brown, flat, and rigid—allowing them to glide over star screens at Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) just like cardboard. How2Recycle® has given ClimaCell the “Widely Recyclable” Paper Insert designation.

Useful Input for Manufacturing

ClimaCell passes Western Michigan University standards for repulpability, meaning that when the panels are dissolved in a paper mill, they yield useful kraft fibers that can be used for new paper-based products.

In the Loop

We work closely with Closed Loop Partners to ensure ClimaCell meets the needs of both MRFs and paper manufacturers, supporting a circular economy.

Taking on EPS.

Replacing EPS foam (commonly known as Styrofoam™) meant solving for performance, cost, and impact at the same time, while matching or exceeding EPS protection, staying affordable, and improving environmental outcomes.
01

End of Life

ClimaCell and WaveKraft carry the How2Recycle® “Widely Recyclable” Paper Insert designation, meaning it can be recycled curbside alongside the box it arrived in.

02

Reduced Emissions

Using ClimaCell and WaveKraft instead of expanded polystyrene foam (EPS) reduces CO₂ emissions by an average of 43%, based on an ISO-compliant, third-party-verified comparative Life Cycle Assessment.

03

Thermal Performance

Proven in our ISTA-certified transport lab to meet cold chain performance requirements. ClimaCell has protected 150+ million shipments and counting.

At Scale

ClimaCell and WaveKraft carry the How2Recycle® “Widely Recyclable” Paper Insert designation, meaning it can be recycled curbside alongside the box it arrived in. We produce millions of liners per month—and that number continues to grow.

Frequently asked questions

Are ClimaCell and WaveKraft liners compostable?

ClimaCell and WaveKraft liners were not designed to be compostable and should not go in home or industrial composting.

Where does your paper come from?

We use virgin and recycled paper from Forest Stewardship Council-certified mills in North America.

Is recycling important?

Yes. Post-consumer paper is an essential feedstock for paper mills in the US and abroad, and recycling paper reduces the number of trees needed to meet everyday demand.

Does ClimaCell or WaveKraft contain allergens or animal products?

No. ClimaCell and WaveKraft liners are free from gluten, soy, dairy, and animal products.

Can ClimaCell and WaveKraft Panels be reused?

They aren't designed for reuse as insulation after shipping. Instead, place the panels in your recycling bin so the paper fibers can be made into new paper.

What if my locality says it can't accept ClimaCell or WaveKraft for recycling?

Some waste collection and recycling organizations may not yet recognize ClimaCell or WaveKraft. If yours doesn't, please fill out the form below with their contact information. We'll reach out directly to help.
