Compost at Home

Green Cell Foam is certified home compostable by TUV Austria, the global leader in product labeling and environmental certifications. Composting enriches the soil and avoids the creation of methane, which occurs when biodegradable products go to landfill.

Compost at a Municipal Site

If home composting is not an option for you, Green Cell Foam is also certified industrial compostable. a growing number of cities collect food scraps and packaging for industrial composting. Here’s a map from the Sustainable Packaging Coalition.

Dissolves down sink

Dissolve Down Drain

Dissolve Green Cell Foam easily in your sink or tub. For the fastest results, fill a sink or bathtub with a few inches of warm water, then submerge the foam and agitate it with your hands. It will begin dissolving immediately and fully disappear within 90 seconds. Be sure to rinse your tub or sink afterward to remove any residue. Green Cell Foam meets ISO 14853 standards for aqueous anaerobic biodegradation, meaning it breaks down quickly and safely in wastewater environments. Heads up: starch can be sticky when wet and may stain or damage concrete, asphalt, decks, and other surfaces. Always dissolve it thoroughly and rinse the area—surfaces may be slick.

Recycling Plant

Recycle the Film

If the panels you received were encapsulated in a plastic wrap, please take the plastic to a local collection site - just like plastic grocery bags. Given the condensation that occurs in a refrigerated or frozen package, the encapsulation is essential to maintaining the integrity of the panels and the safety of the shipment.

Step 1: Ensuring Proper MRF Sorting with How2Recycle®

The first step in the recycling process is making sure a product sorts with like materials. ClimaCell's primary material is kraft paper, which sorts alongside cardboard. It's flat design allows it to glide over star screens at Material Recovery Facilities just like cardboard, ensuring it sorts properly.

Step 2: Certified Repulpable by WMU's Pilot Plants Program

The final step in recycling involves 'can the material actually be reused after sorting?' In the repulping process the bio-based starch insulation inside dissolves and the useful fibers from the kraft paper are retained for use in new paper-based products.

Closed Loop Partners Backed

We worked closely with the Closed Loop Partners, an investment firm focused on supporting and developing products and practices that support a circular economy to ensure that ClimaCell meets all of the needs of both MRFs and paper manufacturer companies.
