TemperPack is a rapidly growing company based in Richmond, Virginia and Las Vegas, NV. We design and manufacture innovative, sustainable packaging components for cold-chain shipping of food and pharmaceutical products. The markets we serve have an urgent need for disruptive, sustainable alternatives to replace the wide array of non-sustainable packaging materials conventionally used in the cold-chain, such as Styrofoam coolers. Job Description:

At TemperPack, our mission is to protect products with materials that protect the earth. We’re seeking a Sustainability Manager to lead our efforts to be stewards of our environment and play a key role driving the impact agenda at our company. You’ll use the latest tools and methodologies to help us understand the impact of our products and others on the market. You’ll lead the way as we develop and evolve our ESG reporting strategy. You’ll be an important voice as we communicate to customers, investors, and consumers at home about our impact. Most importantly, you’ll be a team player. We know that Sustainability is a team sport, and you’ll be working with every department in the company to educate, listen, and work together to measure and improve our impact, across Environmental, Social, and Governance goals.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Drive ESG reporting strategy and management, including:
    • Providing ESG data from across our operation to our investors and customers, on a quarterly and annual basis
    • Developing our own impact strategy for our own reporting, as we work toward SASB/GRI/TCFD standards.
    • Represent TemperPack as we engage with key stakeholders, including investor sustainability groups, on issues ranging from materiality assessments to sustainability ratings.
  • Drive the ongoing effort to understand and improve the impact of our products and operation, including:
    • The development and management of ISO-compliant, 3rd Party verified LCA models.
    • Working with MRFs, paper mills, and waste industry groups to introduce ClimaCell and assure we understand the latest standards and trends.
    • Working with labs to conduct ASTM testing, and recycling/composting/environmental certification groups to assure we have the needed credentials
    • Collaborating with Sales Engineering and New Product Development teams to develop ideas for product improvement.
  • Communication with customers, investors, and consumers at home about our products and their impact.
    • Emails, phone calls, presentations to explain the environmental impacts of ClimaCell, often at a technical, detailed level.
  • Active participation and leadership in internal ESG initiatives, including office waste reduction, our diversity, equity, and inclusion task force, community outreach, and more.
  • Other duties as necessitated by the business.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experienced with LCA analysis methodology. Experienced and proficient with LCA software, specifically SimaPro. Experienced developing new models to measure the impact of different packaging solutions, as well as using or modifying existing models.
  • Experienced and proficient with ESG reporting methodologies and ESG ratings. Familiar with materiality assessments, GRI/SASB, SDGs, ESG ratings.
  • Comfortable and confident speaking in front of customers and investors.
  • Detail-oriented. Self-starter. Team player.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in sustainability field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds unassisted.
  • If remote: reliable internet, ability to receive packages sent to home.
