TemperPack is a rapidly growing company based in Richmond, Virginia and Las Vegas, NV. We design and manufacture innovative, sustainable packaging components for cold-chain shipping of food and pharmaceutical products. The markets we serve have an urgent need for disruptive, sustainable alternatives to replace the wide array of non-sustainable packaging materials conventionally used in the cold chain, such as Styrofoam coolers. Description:

TemperPack is seeking an experienced network engineer to join the team and provide leadership, vision, and execution on network projects for all TemperPack facilities. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented individual to bring his/her experience into a high-growth startup and have a profound impact.

In this position, you will assume ownership of TemperPack’s on-prem and cloud network configurations and be responsible for optimizing security, performance, and uptime to match the vision set forth by the Director of IT and business needs. A strong candidate for this position will have the ability to troubleshoot on the fly, communicate well with others and work well in a fast-paced environment. This individual should be detail-oriented and have excellent troubleshooting, debugging and communication skills. This individual must have a proactive mindset and a track record of seeking out potential problems and eliminating them before they rise to the surface.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Configure network settings/hardware to meet business needs and align with industry standard best practices.
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure for network performance, security/integrity, and uptime, making improvements as needed.
  • Identify system improvements by evaluating system performance and testing, evaluating, and installing new software.
  • Resolve and track all support issues in a timely manner.
  • Analyze, resolve and document problems with the aim of eliminating recurrences.
  • Maintain good working knowledge and certifications of products and tools used for support and service.
  • Maintain online technical documentation.
  • Other duties as necessitated by the business.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of computer systems and networks (i.e. – full-stack SDN, etc.).
  • Experience with routing & switching architecture and design of large-scale networks.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated high degree of professionalism & responsibility/dependability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical background in the areas related to IT support, systems management, and networking (including Cloud).
  • Subnetting, DNS, encryption technologies and standards, VPNs, VLANs, vNets, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with setup, configuration, upgrade, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network hardware (Sophos, preferred but not required).
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment as well as following and completing project tasks independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous projects in an organized and timely manner.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems according to established procedures.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, or related discipline. Equivalent combination of experience and skills will be considered.
  • Technical Certifications (or equivalent combination of experience and skills) preferred
  • CCNA (or equivalent IP networking certification or experience).
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in network engineering/architecture.
  • 5+ years experience with network architecture.
  • 1+ year(s) experience in senior role focusing on aligning architecture with business needs and best practices in security, reliability, etc.
  • 2+ years hands-on experience with Cloud networking (Azure strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with networking in factory/industrial environments (PLCs, SCADA, etc.).

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift up to 15 pounds unassisted. 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
