JOB DESCRIPTION

TemperPack is a rapidly growing company based in Richmond, Virginia. We design and manufacture innovative, sustainable packaging components for cold-chain shipping of food and pharmaceutical products. The markets we serve have an urgent need for disruptive, sustainable alternatives to replace the wide array of non-sustainable packaging materials conventionally used in the cold chain such as Styrofoam coolers. Job Title: Controls Technician

Supervisor’s Title: WaveKraft Manufacturing Director

Department: Engineering

Location: 4447 Carolina Avenue, Richmond, VA 23222

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assembly, installation, testing, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of electrical systems for custom manufacturing equipment
  • Follow electrical diagrams and P&IDs for completion of job tasks
  • Flexible schedule required to support various activities
  • Follow prescribed safety and environmental rules and regulations and maintain high quality standards of work
  • Compliance with current good manufacturing procedures (cGMP), safety and environmental requirements/regulations/guidelines
  • Periodic travel may be required
  • Other duties as necessitated by the business

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Four years of experience or equivalent military experience in panel fabrication within the last six years
  • Experience in industrial automation is preferred
  • Experience with UL508 is preferred
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Practical knowledge on the operation/use of general hand and power tools, instruments, and testing apparatus common to the electrical, electronic and instrumentation fields
  • Ability to read P&ID’s, electrical drawings, blueprints, etc.
  • Must have knowledge installing, repairing, and maintaining instrumentation, automation, electronic, single phase and all aspects of 3-phase electrical equipment throughout a manufacturing environment
  • Effective troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to communicate both in writing and verbally and work in a highly effective team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and advance several tasks in parallel
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Physically able to wear required appropriate personal protective equipment including hearing protection, safety glasses and steel toe shoes

Education and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift 40 pounds unassisted
  • Able to reach, bend, kneel and climb while performing repetitive tasks
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments
  • Able to correctly wear PPE for entire shifts
  • Able to react and respond quickly to noises, smells, visual hazards, and alerts
